Slipknot, the famous masked metal marauders put a nail in the coffin once again for their 2014 Gray Chapter Tour – their first album release in 6 years. After being under the radar for quite some time, Slipknot continues to embrace all things metal, which is reflected in their eerie stage set.
In order to replicate designer Trevor Ahlstrand’s set renderings, Gallagher Staging initiated a comprehensive strategy to execute this demanding project. The first milestone on the list was tackling the 12′ x 11′ goat head, which went through a sophisticated process of sculpting high-grade foam, hard coating, and hand painting.
In addition, the GSP Team provided a custom percussion kit and lift, an aluminum LED infinity portal equipped with two-way mirrors, LED downstage ramps that connect to an upstage LED catwalk aligned with custom pyro carts, and a custom sampler and DJ tables.
Despite the heavy details and intricate craftsmanship of Slipknot’s set, it radiates a soulless nostalgia that you can’t take your eyes off of. The 2014 Gray Chapter Tour won’t disappoint, and is sure to inject some metal into your veins this season
